Although we all have dreams they are usually neither pursued or fulfilled. Ken Gourlay, however, is one of that rare breed of people who actually convert their dreams into reality.
He has achieved his greatest with international acclaim by circumnavigating the world by sailing solo, non-stop and unassisted in his 12.5 metre yacht “Spirit Silver Edition” – a yacht which he helped to design and build to his well planned requirements and which he partnered around the globe.
As one of only a handful of yachtsmen and women to achieve such a an amazing feat, he also became the first Tasmanian, the fastest and oldest Australian and the only grandfather to do so! This involved sailing solo in a variety of sea and weather conditions for some six months without even seeing another Human being.
